HomeSpun: The Smithsonian Indian American Heritage Project
I am pleased to announce the HomeSpun Curator position was opened to the public last week. This full-time position will be located in the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Program office in Washington, DC. Additional announcement details can be found here or at USAJOBS.
This position closes on May 17, 2010, so please help us share information about this opportunity soon, far, and widely. It is critical to this historical project that we find the best candidate!
With support from generous donors, we have raised $700,000 of the $2 million fundraising goal! We hope to keep this positive momentum going through our next fundraisers, tentatively planned for New York City and Atlanta. That said, the HomeSpun exhibition remains on track to open in 2012 at the National Museum of American History on the National Mall, and then to travel throughout the U.S. for three to five years.
Check out the latest thought-provoking HomeSpun blog entries at http://indianamericanstory.wordpress.com/. We are lucky to have a growing roster of talented writers sharing their personal experiences and stories as Indian Americans. Please leave us your comments or share a story of your own … we would love to hear from you!
Thank you for your continued support! If you have any questions, be sure to contact me at adhlakhas@si.edu or 202.633.2693.
