18 Jul / Family Matters by Rohinton Mistry [in AsianWeek]
The much awaited follow-up to the bestselling A Fine Balance. A family saga of sorts, set in a Bombay apartment (really, it’s getting to be a genre of its own!), about an elderly, Parkinson’s Disease-ridden Parsi patriarch and his less-than-ideal offspring. When he breaks his ankle and can no longer live alone, his two middle-aged stepchildren will not welcome him to their spacious home. He joins his younger daughter’s much smaller abode, and life with her husband and their two sons proves challenging for everyone involved, but family ties and laughter save them all.
