The Smithsonian welcomed the whole family to a fun-filled day of workshops on origami, letter writing, stamp designing, storybook-making and so much more.<\/p>\n

Storyteller Kathy Mathieson, artist Sushmita Mazumdar, origami artist Marcia Mau, and children’s book author and stamp illustrator Kam Mak were all on hand to entertain the crowds.<\/p>\n

Performances featuring Hawaiian dance group Halau O Na Halia, South Asian “fusion dance team” Chamak, and the Northern Virginia Rondalla, a string orchestra that plays traditional Filipino folk music, wowed the audience, young and old.<\/p>\n

This was the fifth and final event in the Smithsonian Heritage Month series “Sharing Stories\/ Sharing Heritage,” which explores the ways objects and stories connect us to our heritage and to each other.<\/p>\n
