Most would become laborers on Hawaii&#8217;s large sugar cane plantations.<\/p>\n<p>A century later, here at the Smithsonian, we celebrated a century&#8217;s worth of achievements from the Korean American community, with diverse monthly programs that comprised the ground-breaking Korean American Centennial Commemoration.
