Singgalot: The Ties that Bind, in Chicago

Hosted by the Filipino American Historical Society, the traveling exhibition Singgalot: The Ties that Bind has made its way to Chicago, where it has been warmly received.

About 250 people attended the opening ceremony, including Schaumburg mayor Al Larson, the Philippine Consulate’s Cultural Affairs Officer Berth Salvador, and the new Philippine Consul General Leo Herrera-Li and his wife Fides. Illinois State Senator John Milner, the Schaumburg Chief of Police, several Schaumburg Trustees, representatives from DeVry University, Chicago Cultural Alliance, and reps from Congressman Bobby Rush’s office also attended. Local press and bloggers at the event included Philippine Consulate Embassy New, Via Time, Philippine Weekly, Community Builder, and Bakit-Why.
