In May 2014 we introduced you to Maker’s Lane, a documentary series by Sahra Vang Nguyen about creative entrepreneurs in New York City impacting a range of fields. The first season was launched in celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage Month, with a specific lens on Asian American trailblazers.
In Season 2, Nguyen broadens her collaborative scope by featuring a mix of people from diverse backgrounds and creative industries, while continuing to find the common thread of challenging social conventions to create a unique path. We’re thrilled that this second season expands not only what it means to follow your passion, but how Asian Pacific Americans play integral roles in creative conversations larger and richer than any single identity could encompass.
Jasmine Solano, the star of this episode, embodies all of these beautiful complexities. She refuses to fall into a single occupation title, within a check on a race card, or beneath a given glass ceiling. For Solano, creativity isn’t just an output, it’s a way of living.
