HomeSpun Recap: July Reception
On July 19th, Sunita and Dan Leeds co-hosted a HomeSpun reception at their house with Charu and Shekar Narasimhan. The evening was attended by 20 community leaders and members. Pawan Dhingra, the curator for the project, shared his vision of the exhibit and the role he hopes the community will play in its development. He discussed the need for more items for the collection and input from Indian Americans. Sameen Piracha, who organized the event, made a short speech on the progress in fundraising for HomeSpun. Konrad Ng stressed the importance of including the Indian American voice within the American story. After the presentations, cards and writing materials were handed out and the brainstorming began. The group came up with great ideas for the HomeSpun staff to implement.
