Speakers discussed the Filipino women in California during the racially volatile periods of the 1930s and 1940s and how these women transformed a predominantly bachelor cohort of migrant workers into a thriving community of families with economic opportunities for the next generation.

Panelists included historians and poets Emily Lawsin and Dawn Mabalon, with a performance from the Filipino American Cultural Society of Salem High School.
