The Learning Together page was launched in 2019 to connect K12 teachers across the country with the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center\u2019s programs, curatorial expertise, and recognition of community anniversaries. Today, Learning Together serves as an online venue for thematic education content that features interviews with experts and members of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) communities, links to community-created educational resources, book recommendations, classroom discussion ideas, and much more. This site also functions as a launching pad to our other educational resource offerings, such as activity books and poetry collections, which can be found below.<\/span><\/h2>\n

2020 has been a difficult year. From the xenophobia towards Asians and Asian Americans caused by COVID-19, the disproportionate number of COVID-19 cases affecting Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC) communities, and to the national uprisings surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement, 2020 has also brought attention to longstanding injustices and how we can hope to change for the better. We can become stronger together as we embrace the lesson that #KindnessHeals.<\/span><\/p>\n

The face mask has become essential in the fight against COVID-19. Using a mask as a blank canvas to inspire and educate youth, <\/span>Act to Change<\/span><\/a>, the <\/span>Daniel K. Inouye Institute<\/span><\/a>, and the Smithsonian Asian Pacific American Center have created a personal protective equipment (PPE) mask design campaign around the theme \u201cKindness Heals.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div>
