26 May / Peach Heaven by Yangsook Choi [in AsianWeek]

Peach HeavenBased on a real-life incident from the author’s childhood in Korea, this beautifully rendered book captures one stormy day when the skies seem to rain the most delicious peaches. The thoughtful young Choi worries about the farmers who have now lost their crop, so she and her friends gather the perfect fruits and deliver them back to the orchards.

Review: “New and Notable Books,” AsianWeek, May 26, 2005

Tidbit: Yangook Choi was a wonderful guest for the Smithsonian’s Korean American Centennial Commemoration‘s fall program, “Children’s Books,” on September 13, 2003.
