04 Mar / Nine-In-One Grr! Grr! adapted by Blia Xiong and Cathy Spagnoli, illustrated by Nancy Hom [in What Do I Read Next? Multicultural Literature]
The earth’s first tiger asks the god Shao how many cubs she will have. He promises she will have nine every year, as long as she remembers his words. Bird overhears the prophecy and convinces Tiger that she will have only one cub a year, thereby preventing earth from being overpopulated with tigers.
