01 May / Mama’s Saris by Pooja Makhijani, illustrated by Elena Gomez [in Bloomsbury Review]

A little girl insists on her seventh birthday that she is finally old enough to wear one of her mother’s gorgeous saris. One by one, each magical sari tells a story of the last special occasion for which her mother wore it. When the mother unfolds the final sari – “blue with gold flowers that dance along the corner,” the little girl knows she’s found the perfect one for herself.
