15 Jul / Amulet | Book One: The Stonekeeper and Book Two: The Stonekeeper’s Curse by Kazu Kibuishi

Amulet 1-2

Two years after her father is killed in a car accident, Emily moves with her mother and younger brother Navin to a faraway family home, once owned by her great-grandfather who disappeared decades ago. On the top floor of the neglected house, she finds a mysterious amulet that eventually transports her to a parallel universe where she meets her missing ancestor, who has stayed alive only to pass on her fateful legacy as the next Stonekeeper.

With the help of her grandfather’s brigade of devoted robots, including the pink-bunnied Miskit, Emily and her doubting brother must do everything possible not only to save their poisoned mother, but the rest of the universe as well. Leon Redbeard, a powerful fox, appears in the nick of time to teach and train Emily in harnessing her new-found powers as they prepare to take on the malevolent – and thus far unstoppable – Elf King. No small feat for a couple of kids and their trusty friends!

Get ready for some good ol’ heart-thumping fun with Kazu Kibuishi‘s drawings that provide fast-paced, action-packed adventurous delight!

More volumes are, of course, planned. And our son, for one, can’t wait even though he got lucky and had a peek at the galley of Book 2 long before its September 2009 pub date! He can’t stop demanding Book 3, Book 3!

Thanks for the review, Terry! This book was written and drawn with all of the kids’ feedback in mind, so I’m glad to hear your son really enjoyed it. 🙂
